Early Childhood Memory

My earliest childhood memories are when I would hang out with a bunch of my cousins in Washington. My grandparents live on waterfront property on Miller Bay (off of Puget Sound). Their cabin is basically a hub for everyone in our huge family. All the older people would sit on the porch and laugh with one another while the kids played in the mud or swam in the water (depending on the tide). Other times we would go play in the orchard in the backyard and pretend we were anything from pirates to puppies to pokemon. We basically had free reign of the place. Sometimes we could even go out in boats by ourselves and explore around the bay. It's the kind of place where the only people you'll run across will probably be related to you somehow. No one worried much about a group of kids being off on their own. We didn't have the cares we do now. When Summer rolls around, I still see all these cousins and we hang out and do different things. It's great knowing that even in twenty years, this place will be the glue that holds us together.
